RULES FOR ELECTION OF ASLTON NOMINEES TO REPRESENT GEO-POLITICAL

ZONES IN NISLT COUNCIL

The Council of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) issues the following rules for election of nominees of ASLTON representatives into the next Council in line with the provisions of NISLT Act 12, 2003 and ASLTON constitution. The Council of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) issues Relevant sections are referred as follows:

NISLT Act – Part 1, 4 (d)

“12 members of the Institute to be nominated by the Association of Science Laboratory Technologists with two representing each of the six geo-political zones of the Federation.”

NISLT Act Section 4 (4)

“Elections to the Council shall be conducted in such manner as may be prescribed by rules made by the Council”.

ASLTON Constitution – Page 6 (i) (c)

  “Delegates to zonal election shall comprise Chairmen and Secretaries”

Rules :

1. Zones should nominate two representatives to the Council.

2. Delegates to zonal election shall comprise Chairmen and Secretaries of Branches or their Accredited Representatives.

3. An Aspirant for ASLTON Zonal representative in NISLT Council shall

a. be a citizen of Nigeria

b. be Fellow of NISLT

c. fulfill all the conditions set in the NISLT Act and ASLTON Constitution

d. obtain and fill nomination form

e. be proposed and seconded by two financial members of NISLT and ASLTON

f. be endorsed by three members each from two branches and such forms be endorsed by the aspirant's branch Chairman

4. Aspirants must have been or current active officers of NISLT or ASLTON at branch or state or zone

5. Any member who has served for two terms in Council is not eligible to contest

6. Zonal chairmen should ensure that all branches receive this guidelines and nomination forms

7. The delegates, persons nominating and the aspirants must be financially up to date with both NISLT and ASLTON

8. ASLTON ZEC should put in place electoral committee monitored by ASLTON NEC member(s) within the zone

9. The list of nominees representing the zones should reach NISLT Headquarters on or before 30 th January, 2011 and copy same to ASLTON NEC Exco.

10. A copy of the electoral report of the exercise duly signed together with all the documents relating to the election should be attached to the list of nominees and forwarded to the NISLT Headquarters on or before 30 th January, 2011.
