The Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) announces with profound sorrow the passing of Mr. Ernest Ehiabhi Akhenemhen, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Mr. Akhenemhen was a dedicated and esteemed Fellow of the Institute. He retired as a Chief Technologist from the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan. Throughout his lifetime, he served NISLT with unwavering commitment in various capacities, notably as Financial Secretary on the Executive Committee and Council of the former Nigerian Institute of Science Technology (NIST) prior to the enactment of the NISLT Act of 2003. He also held leadership roles as Chairman of the University of Ibadan Branch of both NIST and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) at different times.

Details of the burial arrangements will be communicated in due course following consultations with his family.
